~ Hankook Tire, a leading global tire manufacturer, made a major announcement at the 2025 Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition in Nashville, Tenn. The company unveiled its highly anticipated 5th generation lineup of truck and bus radial (TBR) tires, showcasing their commitment to innovation and industry leadership.
The event was also an opportunity for Hankook to provide updates on the expansion of its Tennessee Plant. The company plans to increase TBR capacity through a phased expansion, with Phase 3 construction set to begin by the end of 2025. Attendees can visit Hankook Tire at booth #619 to learn more about these developments.
Rob Williams, President of Hankook Tire America Corp., expressed his excitement about being part of TMC in the same city as their North America headquarters and U.S. manufacturing plant in nearby Clarksville. He stated that the event was a perfect opportunity to connect with fleets and industry stakeholders and strengthen customer partnerships.
The new additions to Hankook's TBR family will be brought to market under the Hankook Smart Brand, aligning with the planned plant expansion. These tires will utilize Hankook's Smartec technology philosophy, incorporating advanced features such as Self-Generated 3D Sipe technology and new tread compounds. This focus on innovation and domestic manufacturing highlights Hankook's commitment to providing value for customers.

Some of the new tires that were showcased at TMC 2025 include the Smart Flex AH51/DH51/DH52 – a premium performance all-condition tire designed for extended mileage and lifespan; available in Q2 2025. The Smart Line also includes TL52 – a smart trailer tire optimized for long-haul performance manufactured at Hankook Tire's U.S. plant; available later this year. Additionally, AL52 and DL52 – TBR long-haul tires that were first unveiled at last year's TMC show – are now available. Attendees also got a sneak peek at the eSmart City AU56 – an exclusive electric commercial vehicle tire with high load capacity, extended battery efficiency, and tread life; available in Q3 2025.
The Tennessee Plant in Clarksville is currently undergoing Phase 2 of the Passenger Car and Light Truck (PCLT) Line and Phase 3 of the Truck and Bus Radial (TBR) Line expansion simultaneously. Once completed, the facility will employ approximately 2,200 people and achieve an expected annual production capacity of 11 million PCLT and 1 million TBR tires, making it one of the largest tire plants in North America.
Attendees at the Hankook booth also had the opportunity to learn about future technology plans through videos and comprehensive explanations of current commercial vehicle solutions.
