~ Hankook Tire, a leading global tire maker, has announced its support for the challenging and unique commercial car hauler segment with the launch of its new SmartLine AL50 truck bus and radial (TBR) tire. This latest addition to Hankook's commercial product lines is part of the company's strategic vision to cater to the specific needs of the transportation industry.
According to Rob Williams, President of Hankook Tire North America, the SmartLine AL50 TBR product is a crucial step in their plans to further support the commercial transportation industry, particularly in more specialized applications like the car hauler segment. He also mentioned that they are looking forward to continuing their growth and investment in the U.S. commercial vehicle market with the completion of their Tennessee Plant expansion by 2025, which will enable them to produce one million TBR tires annually.
The car hauler segment presents significant challenges due to height restrictions for loading vehicles. Therefore, developing a tire that can withstand heavy load-bearing stresses, provide long-distance durability for vehicle transportation, and have a lower profile construction to address clearance issues was essential. The SmartLine AL50 has a maximum load range of 7,390 lbs. per tire in its 60 series specification (295/60R22.5), giving it an advantage over other common 75 series specifications.

One of the key features of the SmartLine AL50 is its three-peak mountain snowflake rating (3PMSF), making it suitable for multi-season use. It also incorporates innovative technologies such as Stiffness Control Contour Technology (SCCT), which helps control internal forces and maintain casing profile for improved performance, safety, and durability. The Hidden Groove Technology improves wet grip and traction by appearing when the tire reaches 70% wear mark. Additionally, the Innovative Mixing System (IMS) strengthens bonding between carbon black and rubber in the tire's compound for enhanced durability and fuel efficiency.
Apart from the SmartLine AL50, Hankook Tire also offers other TBR products for car hauler trailers, including the AH37, DH37, TH31, and AH37 in select specifications. For more information on these products, customers can visit the Hankook TBR product page.
Hankook Tire's support for the commercial car hauler segment with its new SmartLine AL50 TBR tire showcases their commitment to providing innovative solutions for the transportation industry. With their strategic vision and continued investment in the U.S. market, they are poised to meet the evolving needs of commercial vehicle operators.
